The Wednesday Post: April Challenge

Well, I survived another April Fools Day (Woo Hoo)!  The downside is, when I got home last night from work, I crashed out and slept, not doing much on the Workout front.  However, I choose to look at that as listening to my body on when I need the Rest!

Today was a good 1 1/2 hour Judo Day, followed by a great DDP Radio show with Nancy Guberti (Certified Nutrition Guru with all the Education Letters behind her to back it up), then Mixed Tape.

     Here are the numbers:

Workout: Mixed Tape
Total Workout Time: 35:35(min/sec)
Average Heart Rate: 124bpm
Maximum Heart Rate: 147bpm
Time in the Zone: Around 33 Minutes

So, the April Challenges I talked about on The Monday Post.

Sparky called for a Month of Streaking one workout.  To be able to hit a bit of everything this month, I've decided that workout is going to be Mixed Tape.  Its 35 Minutes of strong, constant movement that keeps changing things up.  I will be throwing in other workouts throughout the month on top of Mixed Tape (Red Hot Core, Double Black Diamond, Slow Burn Handstand Push-Ups, etc).

Speaking of Slow Burn Handstand Push-Ups, here is where I'm going on that front.  Right now. I am doing then with my feet against the wall.  My range of motion is about halfway, which is arms bent at 90 degrees.  By the end of the month, I'm shooting for getting a full range of motion (from full extension to nose touching the ground, then back to full extension.  As I move forward with this, I will gradually rely less on the wall and go or a free-stand Handstand Push-Up.  However, like everything else, its important to build on the small goals and take it one step at a time.

This Sunday is my first Judo Tournament (Shinai).  For those of you that are not familiar with how a Judo Shinai works, the goal is to get Ippon (a Full Point).  You can get this by getting a good enough through to have your opponent land on his back, be able to pin him to the ground for 20 seconds, or make him submit by Choke or Armbar (depending on your level).  Being this is my first Shinai, I will be competing in the Gokyu & below portion (meaning no armbars).  My goal here is to take in the experience and learn what I need to focus on in my training (both Judo & DDP Yoga).

Finally, my goal this  month is to really start going on the Level 1 workouts.  I talked with Mike Stroeh through Facebook after the show.  It sounds like, if all goes well, we will be doing his Level 1 taping next Sunday.  Then, the following week, I will be formally submitting for the materials do get my Certification going!  The more I talk to people about it, the more I get excited and am confident that its really the right direction for me.

Well, that's it for now.  Tomorrow is my day off, as I am On Duty for Saturday Business Support.  I will be throwing up a couple Mixed Tape workouts to make up for Monday.

Remember, you are the story you tell yourself!  If you are positive with what you tell yourself to do, no matter how dark the day may seem  to be, you will.....
