The Sunday Post: New Experiences = New Opporunities of Learning

The Sunday Post: New Experiences = New Opportunities of Learning

Well, the first Sunday of April in the books!  Today was a day of new experiences and new opportunities of learning.

First, the Workout today (Mixed Tape # 6).  Here are the numbers:

Workout: Mixed Tape (6)
Total Workout Time: 35:40 (min/sec)
Average Heart Rate: 126bpm
Maximum Heart Rate: 139bpm
Total Time in Zone: Around 34 minutes

Today was also my first Judo Tournament, held in Sioux City, IA.  As tempted as I am to put this in Good News/Bad News, I'm not going to.  Instead, I'm going to state what they are and what I'm taking away from them

I had two matches, both against the same guy (since there was only one other person there in my weight class).  I loss both times against a very hard-working, talented Judoka from Omaha, who trains 7 days a week and still  out-weighed me by 30lbs.  We took the time to talk after both matches.  He was telling me how he had just worked the throw that he got Ippon on me with with an Olympic Judoka last weekend.  I still came away with a medal to commemorate my experience & I know what I need to work on for the next time I do a Judo Tournament (Train Harder and work on Uchi-Mata & Uchi-Mata counters).  I also got to see some great sportsmanship (both on the winning & losing sides from our group & the people we competed with).

This is also something I challenge you, my faithful DDP Yoga readers to do.

A lot of people will have something bad happen or not win at something they tried for, then completely shutdown.  They figure that all their hard work was for nothing, Life isn't fair & its just not worth even trying.

I'm here to tell you that the Road of Life is not a smooth one.  There are going to be bumps, detours & breakdowns on that road.  None of these are worth getting bent out of shape for, much less giving up something that you are working hard for.  This is the essences of Living Life at 90% and Owning This Day is all about.  When things don't go they way you like, take them as opportunities for learning how to make what you do better.  The chances are that it probably won't be the last time you run into that sort of situation or something similar.  Plus, you save yourself a ton of Stress & Heartache in the process.

When you take every day to find new opportunities for learning, you will.....
